An Apple Pencil is slim, lightweight and smooth—handy for writing or drawing, but also fragile. It can easily roll off a table, the cap is easy to lose, and after prolonged use it may feel less comfortable in your hand. The right protection can prevent these minor annoyances.

In our protection and covers collection, you’ll find grips, storage cases, caps and tip covers for Apple Pencil (1st generation), Apple Pencil 2 and Apple Pencil Pro. This collection is part of the broader Stylus accessories category, where you’ll also find parts and replacements and charging and adapters.

What are protection and covers for your stylus?

Protection and covers are accessories that protect your Apple Pencil from drops, scratches, loss or discomfort during extended use. Examples include a silicone grip for a better hold, a case for storing your stylus, a replacement cap, or a cover for the tip.

So, this isn’t just one product, but a range of solutions, each protecting a different part of your stylus.

Why protection for your stylus is useful

A stylus is often used every day, for example at school, at work or for creative activities such as drawing. Frequent use increases the chance of dropping it, damaging it in a bag or losing the small cap.

Protection and covers are useful for:

  • improved grip and comfort during longer writing or drawing sessions;
  • protection against drops and scratches while you’re on the go;
  • preventing the cap from getting lost or damaged;
  • reducing wear and noise at the tip;
  • personalising your stylus with a colour of your choice.

What protection do you need?

The best accessory for you depends on what you want to solve. Looking for a better grip while using your stylus? A grip is a good choice. Want to carry your stylus safely? Consider a storage case. Mainly worried about losing the cap? A replacement cap is the solution.

Common options include:

  • non-slip grips for better hold and comfort;
  • storage cases to keep your stylus safe and carry it with you;
  • replacement caps to prevent loss or damage;
  • tip covers to protect the tip.

Non-slip grip for a better hold

A stylus is naturally slim and smooth, which can feel less comfortable after prolonged use. A non-slip grip for Apple Pencil 1/2/Pro is a silicone sleeve that slides onto your stylus for better grip and a thicker, more ergonomic profile. It’s especially comfortable when you’re drawing, writing or taking notes for extended periods.

Please note: the grip can stay on the Apple Pencil (1st generation) while charging through the connector. For Apple Pencil 2 and Pro, you’ll need to remove the grip first, as they charge magnetically along the side of the iPad.

Storage case to carry your stylus safely

Do you often take your stylus to school, work or on the go? A storage case for Apple Pencil 1/2/Pro is a handy option. Made from sturdy ABS, it protects your stylus from bumps in a bag or backpack and also has room for small accessories.

These could include one or two spare tips, a replacement cap, a pencil tip cover, the Lightning adapter or a short charging cable. That way, you can keep your stylus and everything you need to repair or charge it while you’re out safely together in one case.

This is especially handy if you use your stylus every day: instead of searching your bag for a loose tip or adapter, you’ll have everything close at hand whenever you need it.

Silicone cap to prevent loss

An Apple Pencil cap is small, so it’s easy to lose. A silicone cap for Apple Pencil slides easily over the connector and protects it from dirt and damage. Prefer a magnetic attachment? The magnetic cap is an alternative. It stays in place easily but can also be removed without effort.

Important to know: both caps are specifically designed for Apple Pencil (1st generation), as they cover the Lightning connector found only on this model. Apple Pencil 2 and Pro don’t have this connector, so these caps won’t fit them.

Pencil tip cover for your writing tip

Do you often use the tip for drawing, for example for illustrations, notes or digital art? A pencil tip cover can be useful. These silicone sleeves slide over the tip of your Apple Pencil 1/2/Pro, providing more grip and friction on the screen for more precise writing and drawing. They also reduce the familiar tapping sound and protect the tip itself from wear.

The tip covers come as an assorted set of 8 in a resealable container, making them easy to swap or identify among your other belongings.

Which Apple Pencil do you have?

Before choosing protection, it’s important to know which generation of stylus you have, as not every accessory fits every model.

  • Apple Pencil (1st generation): round shape, charges via a Lightning connector. The grip, storage case, cap and tip cover all fit.
  • Apple Pencil 2: flat side, attaches magnetically and charges wirelessly along the edge of compatible iPads. The grip, storage case and tip cover fit; the silicone and magnetic caps do not.
  • Apple Pencil Pro: similar to Apple Pencil 2, with extra features such as a squeeze gesture. The grip, storage case and tip cover fit this model too, but the caps for the Lightning connector do not.

Not sure which model you have? Compare your stylus’s shape and connector with the product information, or get in touch and we’ll help you find out.

Choose a colour: personalise your protection

Since Apple Pencil is only available in white, a coloured accessory is an easy way to personalise it. The storage case is available in grey, pink, blue, purple and forest green. The silicone cap comes in black, white, green, pink and dark blue. The non-slip grip is available in black, white, green, pink and dark blue, among other colours. Finally, the tip covers come as an assorted set of 8 colours in one pack, so you can mix and match.

Since each of these accessories is available separately in several colours, you can coordinate them. For example, choose a pink storage case with a matching pink silicone cap and non-slip grip for a coordinated look, or deliberately combine different colours so you can tell at a glance which part is which. Many people also match the colour to their iPad case, laptop bag or backpack, so the whole set looks neat and coordinated.

A colour that stands out among your other belongings, such as bright pink or green, also makes it easier to find your stylus and accessories quickly in a full bag or pencil case. Prefer a neutral, timeless look? Black and grey are the safest choices.

A coloured accessory, or a matching set, also makes a fun and affordable gift for someone who already owns an Apple Pencil.

Grip, case or cap: what do you need?

Each of these accessories serves a different purpose. A grip improves your hold while using the stylus. A storage case protects it on the go and provides storage space. A cap protects the connector and prevents you from losing the original cap. A tip cover specifically protects the writing tip and improves the writing feel.

Looking mainly for comfort while using your stylus? Choose a grip. Want to carry your stylus safely? Choose a storage case. Worried about losing the cap? Take a look at the silicone cap.

What should you look for when choosing?

Choose the right protection based on your Apple Pencil model, how you use it and what you want to solve. So don’t just consider the price or colour—compatibility is key.

When choosing, consider:

  • which Apple Pencil generation you have (1st generation, 2 or Pro);
  • whether the accessory needs to be removed for charging;
  • whether you’re mainly looking for grip, storage space or protection against loss;
  • how intensively you use your stylus;
  • which colour suits you, your iPad or your bag;
  • whether iPads or other devices shown in the images are included.

Which protection is right for you?

Looking for a better hold while using your stylus? Take a look at the non-slip grip. Want to carry your stylus safely? Choose a storage case. Worried about losing the cap? Take a look at the silicone cap. Do you use the writing tip a lot? Choose the pencil tip cover.
